About GALLERY KUJAKU

HISTORY

Founder Bungo Ozeki named his gallery Kijaku Art gallery from Yasushi Sugiyama's work “Kujaku”. And Also, the symbol mark was designed by Yasushi Sugiyama.

We Specialize in Japanese artist and opened the art exhibition of Kaii Higashiyama, Yasushi Sugiyama, Tatsuo Takayama, Kyujin Yamamoto, Ikuo Hirayama, Shoko Uemura, and more. That was called “Gosankai” and “Kujakukai”.

In 1985, Shizuo Iga succeeded in his gallery and started to open his gallery in Ginza, Tokyo. He has been running his gallery for 25 years in Ginza and collected so many works of art for the Japanese & European art exhibition, a department store, and an art museum.

About the Owner

Shizuo Iga
In 1967, he started training as an art dealer at the Gallery Kujaku. At that time, he was a high school student, but he balanced work, school, and sports, and after many expeditions in speed skating competitions, in 1978 at the Short Track Speed Skating World Championship (Birmingham) and set a new 1500m world record of 2: 35.18. Since becoming independent in 1985, he held a special exhibition "Colors" by five young Japanese-style painters (Seiichi Komori, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Toshiyuki Higashi, Eiji Hiraoka, Rinzō Murata). In 1989, he accompanied the painter Kaii Higashiyama for the artists' solo exhibition in Hamburg, Germany.
