Togyu Okumura

Togyu Okumura (Okumura Togyu, 1889 <Meiji 22> February 18-1990 <1990> September 25) is one of the representative Japanese-style painters of contemporary Japan. He is his real name: Yoshizo Okumura. His issue, "Doushi," was quoted from his father, who ran a publishing company, from a passage in Hanshan poetry, "Plowing Doushi Ishida." Chairman of the exhibition. He is a member of the Japan Art Academy. He received the Order of Culture. He studied under Hanko Kajita and Kokei Kobayashi.
He is characterized by his work, which has succeeded in very delicate color adjustment by applying whitewash etc. with a brush 100 times or 200 times. <Mt. Fuji map> (or "Fuji") is famous and is also displayed in the Imperial Palace.
After his death, his son, who suffered from the huge inheritance tax levied on his work, confessed that he had incinerated a relatively low-value sketch and became a hot topic. This has raised the issue of the inheritance tax system for arts and crafts.
