Hiroshi Kanosue, Western-style painter of the Showa and Heisei periods, Professor Emeritus of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music.


Career: Attended Mango Kobayashi's Doshisha, graduated at the top of his class from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 1952, and became an assistant in the painting department of the same university in 1954. He exhibited his works at the Kokuga-kai Exhibition and won the Newcomer's Prize. 33 years later, he moved to Europe, where he became a lecturer in 1943, assistant professor in 1944, and professor emeritus in 1955. 60 years later, he held his first retrospective exhibition. His works include “Father, Mother, and Child” and “House of the Gods.
