Career history.
Aspired to become a painter in junior high school and studied oil painting. After the war, he taught arts and crafts in Iwate Prefecture, where he was evacuated, before moving to Tokyo at the age of 29. In 1953, his oil paintings were selected for the Free Artists' Association Exhibition, and in the same year he began stencil printmaking, holding the first stencil printmaking exhibition in 1959. His motifs are varied, including snow scenes, still life and women. He remained unaffiliated with the art world. Works include Winter in Michinoku and Study of Life and Death, Love.
