Kyojitsu

Takeshi Hayashi (December 10, 1896 - June 23, 1975) was a Japanese Western-style painter. His real name was Takeomi.


Born in Tokyo. He began his career as a Western-style painter at the end of the Taisho era (1912-1926). After the war, he became popular for his paintings of women, flowers, and landscapes, using a technique that used many primary colors and a lot of paint. In his later years, he also served as the chairman of the National Language Council.


The influence of Kishida Ryusei, Cézanne, Modigliani, Picasso, Matisse, and Buffet can be seen in Takeshi's paintings.
In his early works, he tended to apply paint thinly, but after the war, he began to heap up the paint and use more primary colors.
His signature is often written as "Takeshi H." or "Take H.
