Characteristics
- This is a work in which Higashiyama Kaii confronts nature and approaches the essence of nature.
- The original was produced in 1981 and is in the collection of the Nagano Prefectural Museum of Art / Higashiyama Kaii Kan.
- This woodblock print was made during Kaii Higashiyama's lifetime, under his supervision.
- In 1973, in preparation for the Toshodaiji temple wall painting, Higashiyama Kaii traveled around Japan and made over 100 sketches of mountains and seas. The study for “Sangun” (shown below) is the original of this work, which is one of the representative works of Higashiyama's art.
