(Description)

Since Johann Friedrich Böttger invented porcelain for the first time in Europe in 1708, Dresden has flourished as a city of porcelain.

In general, German porcelain is divided into Meissen, KPM, and Dresden, but among British collectors, porcelain with designs influenced by 19th century Romanticism is sometimes called Dresden, including Meissen. In the 19th century, white porcelain ware made in Meissen was painted and sold in Dresden, which is 25 km away from Meissen, and this is thought to be the reason why the boundary line alternated.

Nowadays, Dresden porcelain is marketed at a "relatively affordable price" compared to Meissen, which is expensive and high class, but in Dresden from 1855 to 1944, about 200 painters were rivals of Meissen and produced excellent works. In Dresden between 1855 and 1944, there were about 200 painters who were rivals to Meissen and produced excellent work. You can distinguish them by the marks of their respective workshops.

Size: 12 x 19 cm

Founded in 1872, Carl Thieme is the only company in Dresden that produces porcelain from scratch. The trademark "Dresden" (Saxonian Porcelain Factory Dresden) is used for the works registered as Dresden porcelain after 1901/02, and it is guaranteed to be Dresden porcelain.
