呉昊 Wu Hao
Lives and works in Paris. Born in Beijing in 1973, Wu Hao studied at the Beaux-Arts National School of Fine Arts in Paris after leaving art school in Beijing. He expresses it with a variety of colors and brush strokes.
By expressing the abstract shape of “square” with colors and brushstrokes that express the artist's feelings and intentions, his works may have the power to evoke some concrete image or sensation, rather than being merely abstract paintings. This ambiguous borderline between abstraction and figuration can be considered one of the charms of his works.
His use of the square as a motif, a “form that does not exist in nature, a form created by man,” is thought to contain fundamental questions about the relationship between man and nature, reason and sensibility, order and creativity, and so on. His works will be appreciated not only for their visual beauty but also for their deep conceptual background.
