Oyama Chusaku, May 5, 1922-February 19, 2009
Japanese-style painter. Chairman of Nitten. Born in Nihonmatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture. Daughter is actress Isshiki Saiko.
Graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 1943, but was demobilized in 1946, and his work “O Sensei” was accepted for the first time at the 2nd Nitten that year. The following year, he joined Issai-sha, a Japanese painting study group led by Tatsuo Takayama. He studied under Yamaguchi Yomogiharu. In 1961, he became a member of Nitten, where he served as Secretary General and President. 1973, he was awarded the Japan Art Academy Prize. 1986, he became a member of the Japan Art Academy. 1996, he was awarded the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Third Class. 1999, he was awarded the Order of Cultural Merit. 2006, he was awarded the Order of Culture. 2009 He died of multiple organ failure due to sepsis on February 19, 2009 at the age of 86.
